Glossary of terms used in this website
ABN
Australian Business Number introduced by the Commonwealth Government to provide a unique identifying number for the vast majority of businesses. It is an eleven-digit number and is used when dealing with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other government agencies.
ACN
The number allocated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission when you register a company or body corporate under the legislation governing corporations.
AGENCY
A NSW government department, or any other government organisation or licensing authority.
BANKING BUSINESS DAY
Any day on which banks in Sydney are able to effect settlement through the Reserve Bank of Australia.
BUSINESS LICENSING INFORMATION SERVICE (BLIS)
A NSW government service which provides information on licensing requirements for businesses and individuals.
CUSTOMER REFERENCE NUMBER
Customer Reference Number is a unique number that is attached to the licence/registration by the licensing authority to enable an applicant or licence holder to logon to the Web site, create a User ID and password and renew and change certain particulars online for the licence associated to the reference number.
Customer Reference Numbers are provided on licence renewal forms. Customer Reference Numbers can also be requested from the licensing authority on an ad hoc basis.
LICENCE
Any accreditation, approval, authority, card, certificate, licence, permit, registration, exemption, or similar authority or certificate incorporated into this Web site.
PASSWORD
Password is a secret code required for accessing a User ID and is set up by the creator of the User ID. A Password needs:
- Between six and twenty characters
- To include both upper and lower case characters
- To include both alphabetic and numeric characters
